A round die in a tray. A useless but fun and entertaining toy, "roll the dice" taken literally. There's a magnet just under the surface of each number and a magnet under the bottom center of tray. When it finally stops rolling, (almost 2 minutes) it always lands number up. Wish I could take credit for the idea but it came from a youtube video from Oliveir Golam. Video below is mine in action. Also I actually made a scaled version of a "pair" of dice which is a faster, shorter roll which would be suitable for game play.
My old craftsman lathe would not accommodate such a large tray so I had to build a jig (sled) to dig out center with angle grinder. I added a ring of magnets outside center with opposing polarity to the ball which prolongs the motion making it twist and spin a little longer.
I made these wavy flags using sheets of maple veneer applying glue and putting them in a press that I made. Thin lightweight and durable. Guaranteed to hold their shape and colors not to fade. Finished on both sides with polyurethane. Unique item and can only be found here. I've been selling these for $150. They measure 19.5 X 37 inches. Colored on one side for hanging on wall. I can color both sides for 175 (for hanging on a ceiling where both sides need to be displayed). And for the low price of $200 I'll color both sides and attach a thin hardwood rail on the side where it can literally be suspended on a pole.
Below are the upgraded units, finished on both sides with a hard side rail making it suitable for suspending on a pole.
